State offices (zhiguan 職官)


The type of books on state offices (zhiguan lei 職官類) is a sub-category to the literary category of historiography (shibu 史部) in the collectaneum Siku quanshu 四庫全書. The books in this section describe the offices, the duties of the officials and gives instructions how to control the officialdom. The compilers of the Siku quanshu divided this section into two parts, namely books on the government officials system (guanzhi 官制) and admonishions towards state officials (guanzhen 官箴). The section includes 21 books. The most important is the Tang liudian 唐六典.
