Xishiji 西使記 "An embassy to the West" is a short personal report of Liu Yu's 劉郁 travel to Persia during the early Yuan period 元 (1279-1368). Liu Yu was an investigating censor (jiancha yushi 監察御史) and was sent to Persia to the court of the Mongol khan Hülegü (r. 1256-1265, Chinese transliteration Xuliewu 旭烈兀). His book is a valuable addition of earlier report on Central Asia, like the Changchun zhenren xiyou ji 長春真人西游記 or the Xiyoulu 西游錄 because it was compiled later than these two books and covers matters not included in the earlier texts, like the western expedition of Khan Hülegü.
The Xishiji is included in the reprint series Shuofu 說郛 and Siku quanshu 四庫全書. The early 20th century historian Wang Guowei 王國維 has published an annotated edition in his book Gu xingji jiaolu 古行記校錄.
