Ouxiang lingshi 藕香零拾

Ouxiang lingshi 藕香零拾 is a series of collectanea (congshu 叢書) compiled by Miao Quansun 繆荃孫(1844-1919). It includes 39 texts. The collection starts with a preface derived from a passage in the text Liutong gushu yue 流通古書約 "A compact on the circulation of ancient books by the late Ming-period 明 (1368-1644) bibliophile Cao Rong 曹溶 (1613-1685), with each Chinese character of that passage forming the title of one volume. Most of the books were personally compiled and collated by the Miao Quansun, who also provided postfaces or notes on textual variants.

The series includes a variety of rare and valuable works, such as treatises on book collecting, historical records, local gazetteers, collected writings, chronologies, biographies, and miscellaneous notes. Examples are Danshengtang cangshu yue 澹生堂藏書約 and Cangshu jiyao 藏書記要, which summarise the experiences of private book collectors across the ages; Dongguan zouji 東觀奏記, which documents historical events during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong 唐宣宗 (r. 846-859) of the Tang dynasty 唐 (618-907); or Xingtongfu 刑統賦, presenting the Song dynasty's 宋 (960-1279) legal code in verse form, serving as a didactic text for legal studies.

Miao Quansun also extracted some texts from the remainders of the Ming-period encyclopaedia Yongle dadian 永樂大典, including Song Zhongxing zhangong lu 宋中興戰功錄, Song zhongxing baiguan timing 宋中興百官題名, Zeng Gong yilu 曾公遺錄, Henan zhi 河南志, Weiqilu 僞齊錄 and Su Yingbin nianpu 蘇潁濱年表. Although each of these books is relatively brief, together they form a substantial collection, providing important reference value for the study of the Tang, Song, and Jin 金 (1115-1234) periods.

In addition, the Guquan Shanguan tiba 古泉山館提拔 provides valuable evidence for identifying Qing-period reprints of Song editions, and is regarded as a pioneering work in the creation of book catalogues.

The collation and proofreading in this series were conducted with great care, giving it high scholarly value for the study and restoration of ancient texts. For each work included in the collection, Miao wrote detailed prefaces and postscripts, explaining the authors, main content, and the textual transmission and editions of the individual books.

The compilation series was begun in 1886 and finished in 1910, but the publication was delayed until 1913.
