Zhuangshi 妝史

Zhuangshi 妝史 "A history of adornment" is an encylopaedia on women compiled by the Qing-period 清 (1644-1911) scholar Tian Mo 田霡 (1652-1729), courtesy name Ziyi 子益, style Leyuan 樂園, Juyin 菊隱 or Xiangcheng Jushi 香城居士. The 2-juan long book was finished in 1725 and includes 5 chapters covering all important aspects of the life of women in the traditional upper society. The book quotes from numerous sources, from the Confucian Classics to history books and miscellaneous writings.
