Nüze 女則 "Principles for Girls"


The Nüze 女則, also called Nüze yaolu 女則要錄 "Important principles for girls", was is a book for female education written by Empress Zhangsun 長孫皇后, wife of Emperor Taizong 唐太宗 (r. 626-649) of the Tang dynasty 唐 (618-907), in order to instruct the court ladies.
The book with a length of 10 juan "scrolls" is lost. According to comments, it consisted of a large amount of examples from the past. The biographies of outstanding women were to demonstrate how a women was expected to behave properly in order to corretly reflect her social status.
