Wanyueci 婉約詞 is an anthology of poems from one of the two main genres of lyric-metre-style poetry (ci 詞) specifically the genre known as "delicate restraint" (wanyue 婉約). The collection was compiled by Hui Qiyuan 惠淇源 and published in 1989 by the Anhui Wenyi Press 安徽文藝出版社.
In his preface, Hui states that the genre originated from folk songs and was characterised by being sung. Another feature of the genre was the use of beautiful and refined language. Regarding the content, emotions played a significant role, whether joy, sorrow, sadness, or anger, thus reflecting aspects of the authors' private and personal lives. According to Hui, poets of the wanyue genre used sophisticated language, expressed sincere feelings, and created beautiful artistic images that moved the listener or reader. They aimed to depict social life with a certain typical sense of romance. They produced outstanding works that were rich, colourful, splendid, and brilliant; as a result, these works have been read and recited for generations.
The collection comprises 518 poems by 257 writers from the Tang 唐 (618-907) to the late Qing 清 (1644-1911) periods, accompanied by comments and brief notes on each poem.
