Shanzhi 山志 "Records from the Hill" is a "brush-notes"-style collection (biji 筆記) authored by Wang Hong 王宏 (1622-1702), courtesy name Wuyi 無異, style Shanshi 山史, who was a native of Huayin 華陰, Shaanxi. He was the son of a Vice Minister of War (bingbu shilang 兵部侍郎) in Nanjing during the late Ming period 明 (1368-1644). From a young age, he and his elder brother studied together as teachers and friends, cultivating broad learning and proficiency in classical prose. In 1679, he passed the special examination for erudite scholars (boxue hongru 博學鴻儒). Wang Hong's other scholarly and literary works include Zhouyi shishu 周易筮述, Shiqitie shu 十七帖述, Zhengxue oujian shu 正學偶見述, Dizhai tiba 砥齋題跋 and the collection Wang Shanshi wuzhong 王山史五種 (i.e., Zhengxue oujian shu 正學偶見述, Beijing rizha 北行日札, Dai'an rizha 待庵日札, Xigui rizha 西歸日札, and Kang Naixin's 康乃心 Wang Zhenwen Xiansheng yishi 王貞文先生遺事).

The Shanzhi is a compilation of earlier notes and records. It contains extensive commentary but relatively little textual verification, and also includes miscellaneous observations and anecdotes. For example, it discusses students of Dong Zhongshu 董仲舒 (179-104 BCE), such as Lü Bushu 呂步舒, ancient poetry, noting that specific regions of China had many talented women or accounts of scholarly lectures and academic discussions.

The work is listed in the descriptive book catalogue Siku quanshu zongmu tiyao 四庫全書總目提要, but surviving copies are rare.
